Fujifilm makes some incredible cameras. From X Pro 1 to X-T5, the company has released exciting, compact cameras that offer exceptional features for photographers who want smaller sensors. While X-series cameras are exceptional and exciting, there is another camera that takes the crown away. And no, it is not the X series but rather a medium format. Which one is it? The Fujifilm GFX 50R.

The first camera with a rangefinder-style body in the GFX lineup, the GFX 50R, was launched in 2019. The device is compact, and it is really well weather-sealed. We tested the camera for sealing and found that the device can withstand rain for 45 minutes. As we said in our review, “It has weather sealing and overall just feels great in the hand. The device has a 51.4MP sensor, X-Processor Pro processor, and a burst rate of 3 frames per second. The device has 117 AF points, face & eye detection, as well as a shutter speed of 1/16000sec. The ISO is up to 102,400, full HD 30fps, a 3.69M-dot EVF, and a 3.2-inch 2.36M-dot LCD. Just like the tech specs, the image quality is just as good. The camera has excellent high ISO output, the autofocus is great, and it is lightweight. The metering is accurate, and the dynamic range is excellent. The best part is that you can skip editing altogether if you want. The ergonomics are also very good.

The GFX 50R is expensive, but it is one of the best medium format cameras of this time. The device can be used to shoot outdoors, which is quite excellent given the fact that medium format is designed for studios. There are many great lenses to choose from, too, which can help people to shoot streets, weddings, and portraits.
