Kapoor’s look recalls Malaika Arora’s ivory piece by Manish Malhotra. Worn for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in August 2024, her ensemble consisted of a mermaid-esque skirt, an attached tulle sari with a trail and a bralette. The ensemble was festooned with Swarovski crystals, sequins and glass beads.

Neha Dhupia’s sari by Disha Patil also showcased a half-and-half style, like Kapoor’s, with low-key pleats and an ornate pallu. The organza drape is brought to life with meticulous surface ornamentation, including intricate embroidery with bead and cutdana work as floral motifs. It is the result of over 500 hours of hand dexterity, per the designer.

A pre-draped sari is a far cry from being vanilla. It’s guaranteed to be your ticket to being comfortably chic at a festive occasion. Its perennial appeal means you can re-wear and re-style it umpteen times. The flawless canvas means you can play with gemstone jewellery or amp it up with dramatic makeup.
