Her look comprised a long kurta in an A-line silhouette, straight pants and a dupatta, all constructed with gold tissue fabric handwoven in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. The gilded base served as a luxe canvas to celebrate Awadhi crafts, including chikankari and kaamdani embroidery, hand done by skilled artisans in Lucknow.
Once an iconic region situated in the heart of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, Awadh constituted the northeastern portion of Uttar Pradesh. The historic region, particularly Lucknow, can be thanked for offering a wealth of artisanal crafts such as chikankari and kaamdani.
