Bhumi Pednekar’s gold tissue kurta set celebrated chikankari and kaamdani embroidery

During the press tour of her just-released movie, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, Bhumi Pednekar brought fun and eclecticism to her appearances in spades. She sported fringe skirts in line with her rebellious character in the rom-com to a classic Madras checks sari. A few days ago, she embraced a gold kurta set by Dhaaga & Co. that stood out for its colour, comfort and crafts.

Her look comprised a long kurta in an A-line silhouette, straight pants and a dupatta, all constructed with gold tissue fabric handwoven in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. The gilded base served as a luxe canvas to celebrate Awadhi crafts, including chikankari and kaamdani embroidery, hand done by skilled artisans in Lucknow.

Once an iconic region situated in the heart of the Indo-Gangetic Plain, Awadh constituted the northeastern portion of Uttar Pradesh. The historic region, particularly Lucknow, can be thanked for offering a wealth of artisanal crafts such as chikankari and kaamdani.
