Ananya Panday brings a modern spin to Gujarat’s textile heritage in Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla

At the 70th Filmfare Awards in Ahmedabad, Ananya Panday channelled a new-age Indian charm in a look that beautifully married two of the state’s most iconic crafts: bandhani and patola. Styled by Ami Patel, the actor wore an ensemble by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla that paid tribute to Gujarat’s vibrant textile heritage.

The look featured a patola-inspired corset, intricately hand-embroidered with a mosaic of multicoloured bugle beads arranged in geometric floral patterns. It was paired with a silk bandhani sari, reimagined as a draped skirt, in a black and red palette, creating a striking yet cohesive contrast.

True to the label’s aesthetic, the ensemble balanced precision with playfulness. The duo, who are known for their celebration of India’s artisanal traditions, have often reinterpreted textile legacies through couture detailing and Panday’s look stood as a testament to that philosophy.

Her styling leaned minimal and deliberate. She wore no necklace, allowing the strapless neckline to remain uncluttered and draw attention to her shoulders. Instead, she chose ornate round studs echoing the patola palette—an understated nod to tradition. Two gemstone-encrusted rings adorned each index finger on her hands, adding just the right amount of glam without overpowering the ensemble.
