When Alaya F isn’t being the quintessential girl next door, making smoothie bowls and practising unimaginable headstands, she’s often spotted wearing Indian wear meant for the no-fuss dresser. The young actor was recently spotted in a block-print draped skirt from an unreleased Monisha Jaising collection, styled with a bustier-style blouse featuring off-shoulder sleeves.
In a stark black hue with all-white embroidery, the blouse was adorned with delicate beading and pearl tassels. In contrast to the heavy-duty bustier, the skirt came as a breezy respite, mimicking half of a sari pallu laden with block print motifs.

Bordered with gotta-patti work, the sari-inspired skirt and bustier combination keep Jaising’s easygoing and resort-inspired take on ethnic silhouettes in mind. It also resonates with Alaya’s consistent penchant for silhouettes heavy on craftsmanship without shrouding her youthful and lighthearted demeanour.
In another one of her recent outings, stylist Sheefa J Gilani styled Alaya in a pastel and beige lehenga from Tarun Tahiliani with intricate yet subdued floral ornamentation.

From Vogue‘s fashion desk:
“Swap the heavily embellished blouse for a crisp white shirt: a sharp, structured tailoring to offset the opulence. Buttoned high or left slightly undone, it adds a modern, androgynous edge to the look. For accessories, trade the statement bag for a sleek, mini top handle in glossy patent, something clean and graphic to contrast the intricate embroidery. Opt for a slicked-back high ponytail, letting the embroidery take centre stage,” says Vogue India’s Fashion Associate, Manglien Gangte.
